3D Extrude an Image based on its pixel data using Papervision 3D

Once while going through FWA i came across this site Vicente Díaz Peñas where there is an interesting way of showcasing images. After  a bit of research came across this post on Everyday3d which explain the concept as how to map image data in 3d space.

The basic concept uses two images where one is actual image (called ‘texture’) to be displayed and other one (called ‘terrain’) which is used to map the pixels in z depth. Each pixel of the terrain is mapped to a single vertex of the texture – the lighter the pixel color is, the higher the z position of the vertex will be. The effect on click is the one which is in Vicente Diaz site, i have tried to replicate that.
