July 16, 2013 16:54

Blackberry Application built with Phonegap build gives a standardinstall in a zip format which consists of a alx, cod, csl and cso files. These files can be loaded on blackberry devices using blackberry desktop manager. However the ideal solution would be to provide the user with a link to download and automatically install the application, for which the .jad file would be required.

.jad is a simple manifest files which consist of information of the application to be installed. The typical contents of the .jad files are as follows, you can copy-paste the content in notepad and save the file with .jad extension and ur installation file is ready.

MIDlet-Name: Application Name
MIDlet-Version: Application Version
MIDlet-Description: Application Description
MIDlet-Vendor: Company Name
RIM-COD-URL-1: Path of COD File
RIM-COD-Size-1: Size of COD file in bytes

If  there are more than 2 COD files just replicate the last to fields with incremental number.

If you are hosting the file on IIS server you need to add following MIME types .jad with “text/”
