Save a file locally using Flash Player 10

October 16, 2010 00:58

Sometime back to save image from flash to local machine hard disk was a tedious job. The data had to be sent to server to process and then file would be downloaded to user’s machine. With Flash Player 10 this job is much simpler using FileReference save method.

One of the new features of Flash Player 10 isĀ  to write to the local file system as long as the save request is requested by the user. This means that upon calling FileReference.save() the default file system dialog will open that lets the user save a file to the local file system. It takes two parameters first is the data and second name of the file. It can be only invoked if the invoke call is associated with an OnClick event.

No server processing needed!
